Hi! I'm Ashlynn, one of the assistants at Four Lakes. I am originally from Beloit, WI, where I grew up with my older sister and many, many dogs and cats. I graduated from Turner High School in 2013 and went straight to college at UW-Madison. I decided in my first year that I wanted to major in zoology and apply to veterinary school. I graduated with my BS in zoology in May, 2017.
I started working at Four Lakes in October of 2017, after working in a different small animal clinic for about two years. I absolutely love working at Four Lakes. I couldn't imagine a better group of people to work with, and I love getting to know our wonderful patients and their people!
While working as an assistant, I have realized two important things. 1. I do not want to go to vet school. I much prefer the technical side of things over the more big picture things and decision making that veterinarians deal with on a daily basis. 2. I have a very strong interest in sonography. I have helped out with many ultrasounds while working at the clinic and I could see myself doing ultrasounds as a career. Unfortunately, to be a sonographer for pets you have to be a veterinarian first, so I have made the difficult decision to switch to human medicine. I'm attending Blackhawk Technical College in Janesville and plan to graduate with my associate's degree in a couple of years. Sadly, this means I will be leaving Four Lakes, but I intend to continue working at the clinic until I get my degree.
I currently live in Evansville with my husband, Jesse. We have two goofy dogs: Mara, a pittie mix, and Roo, a hound mix. When I manage to find some free time, I spend it reading, cuddling wtih my pups, spending time with my family, or watching shows I have already seen a million times on Netflix.
