Social Distancing Protocols During the COVID-19 Pandemic
Four Lakes Veterinary Clinic has been monitoring the rapidly changing status of the corona virus (COVID-19) pandemic. We enhanced our sanitary procedures and limited the number of people in the clinic. By having staggered appointment times, we were able to get animals into exam rooms quickly and to limit the number of people in our reception area. But as recommended by the Wisconsin Department of Health, Four Lakes Vet is now taking additional precautionary measures to reduce the risk of spread of this virus. We are implementing additional social distancing protocols to decrease exposure and contact between individuals.
We will soon begin to slowly start allowing clients into the clinic, but will limit it to one, masked owner of only especially anxious pets. (This is in an effort to try to maintain a fear-free visit for those most nervous dogs and cats.) Entrance into the clinic will, of course, not be mandatory, as we will be continuing curbside appointments.
Please understand our staff will be practicing personal safety and social distancing for their protection as well as yours. At this time, our team will not be shaking hands and may be masked, gowned, and gloved.
Drop off appointments:
When you arrive for your appointment, please remain in your vehicle and call the clinic, if you do not have a mobile phone, please inform us when scheduling or confirming your appointment.
A staff member will come out to your vehicle to get your pet and bring it into the clinic. If you received a form to fill out, please remember to email it back to us or bring it to the appointment. Include any concerns or questions you have about your pet or be prepared to spend a few minutes providing information re: your concerns, symptoms, current medications, etc. We will call, text or email to discuss any questions we have, as well as any diagnostics and/or treatments we recommend, and our care plan.
We will send home or email detailed discharge instructions or a report card after the visit.
Card (via phone), check or cash payments will be accepted.
When your pet is ready to go home, we will bring your dog or cat back out to your car. If your pet is here for an appointment, we request that you wait in the parking lot until your pet is done.
Scheduled in person appointments:
In person appointments will be set up in advance to allow us adequate time to sanitize common spaces within exam rooms and maintain suggested spacing between clients. When you arrive, please call the clinic and let them know you are here for your in person appointment. When we have your room ready, we will escort you from your car to the exam room. We are currently only allowing one masked person into the building per appointment. We will maintain as much distance as our rooms will allow through the exam. When we have completed your appointment and collected payment, we will escort you and your pet back to your vehicle.
Food and/or medication pick-ups:
Please call or email the clinic if you need refills on food or medication.
We will bring the supplies outside to you. Pay by card, check or cash.
You may also order food and medications from our on-line store.
Pet travel and veterinary visits can be stressful situations even in ideal conditions. However, with heightened concerns for the COVID-19 outbreak, it is important we work together to reduce risks while providing care to pets in need. Thank you for entrusting us with your pet's care and for understanding the added precautions to keep everyone safe and healthy.
