Preparing for Your First Visit
A little preparation helps your first appointment go smoothly:
- Complete the Client Information Sheet and Pre-Visit Questionnaire before your visit
- Plan to arrive about 15 minutes before your first appointment
- Bring any previous medical records, or ask your prior veterinarian to email them to staff@fourlakesvet.com
- Bring a list of current medications, foods, and any questions or concerns
- Bring your pet hungry with a favorite treat or toy to help them feel at ease
What to Expect When You Arrive
As a Fear Free Certified practice, we work to keep every visit calm. When you arrive, call the clinic and our team will come out to you. You can choose a curbside visit, where we bring your pet inside and update you by phone, or come in with your pet once their exam room is ready. Learn more on our Appointment Expectations page. If your pet is nervous at the vet, let us know ahead of time so we can tailor their visit, and ask about our behavior consultations.
Starting Your Pet’s Preventive Care Plan
Your pet’s first visit usually includes a complete wellness exam and a review of their vaccine history. We will discuss parasite prevention for Lyme disease and heartworm disease, microchipping, nutrition, and any recommended laboratory testing. Ask about enrolling in our Free Vaccines for Life program at your first visit to save on core vaccines for the rest of your pet’s life.
Payment and Convenient Services
Payment is due at the time of service, and we accept credit cards, checks, and cash. Once you are a client, you can request refills through our pet portal, pick up food and medications through our drive-through, shop our online store, and check our current promotions for rebates. Explore our full list of veterinary services and answers to common questions on our FAQs page.
